A pinch of this and a dash of that…

Dyes, all

Don’t they look pretty, even in raw form? It’s just so neat to be able to make a color from a plant (or bug!) and then make that color into a beautiful yarn.
Back Row: Sandalwood, osage orange, logwood.
Middle Row: Cochineal, indigo, weld.
Front Row: Coreopsis, madder.

I took this picture today since I was making a little sign about natural dyeing to put on display at the show this weekend. Show, you say? I’ll be at the Ranch of the Oaks Christmas Fair! I can’t wait, it’s going to be a lot of fun even if it rains. Bring a raincoat and some shoes that do well in mud – I mean, you want to see the week-old baby suri cria, don’t you? The fair is at the Ranch near Lompoc, from 10am – 4pm both Saturday (Dec 4th) and Sunday (Dec 5th). I hope to see you there!
